Victor of the Dark Domain
Somewhere in time, this week, I have had a hymn running
through my mind. It’ funny, I haven’t
been to a church that has sung this song in a while, but it’s still imbedded in
my brain. Probably the observance of
Easter brought it to the forefront.

Tune: CHRIST AROSE, Meter: 65.64 with Refrain
1. Low in the grave he
lay, Jesus my Savior,
waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Refrain:
Up from the grave he arose;
with a mighty triumph o'er his foes;
he arose a victor from the dark domain,
and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
2. Vainly they watch his
bed, Jesus my Savior,
vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!
(Refrain)
3. Death cannot keep its
prey, Jesus my Savior;
he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!
(Refrain)
The stanza that is sticking with me is – he arose a victor
from the dark domain.
Many times, when I read the headlines, I feel like evil is
winning.
What I have to remember is that evil may win a battle, but
Christ alone will win the war.
Revelation 1:18
King James Version (KJV)
18 I
am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen;
and have the keys of hell and of death.
